Crew Legal’s annual ball raises over $40,000 for newborns

19 Nov 2025
The final tally from the night might be in, but Crew Legal are still on a fundraising mission after their glorious Spring Gala Ball raised an outstanding $40,243.67 of the $52,700 needed for a neonatal ‘Babyroo’ machine for Redcliffe Hospital’s Maternity Unit.

“Our target for this year’s event was to purchase this open care warmer for newborns. We’re very close and we’re working hard with our networks to ensure we deliver this machine in time for Christmas,” said Shane Crew, Managing Director at Crew Legal.

For Shane and his team, funding vital hospital equipment is just one more way they’re working to serve the Redcliffe community.

“As a Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital Impact Partner, we’re committed to making a real difference for patients and the compassionate teams who care for them. It’s amazing what we can achieve when we fill a room full of people with community spirit in mind.”

Jo Kiss from Redcliffe Hospital’s Neonatal Unit, thanked guests and the Crew Legal team for their support, emphasising that their generosity “means everything”.

“When a baby is struggling to breathe or just clinging to life, every second counts - the BabyRoo gives us immediate access to exactly what we need.
“In those critical moments, when a baby starts to decline, having the BabyRoo right there, with lighting, resuscitation tools, oxygen and suction, means we can stay right at the baby’s side and act fast, keeping the baby warm and stable while delivering life-saving interventions,” Jo said.

“In healthcare, the stakes are always high, but having equipment that’s intuitive and reliable will help us get the baby stabilised, breathing and set on a path toward the best possible outcome.”

But it’s not just the practical impact, Jo said; it’s what the donations signify.

“Knowing that our community believes in the work we do and is willing to come together to fund this equipment, is incredibly moving. It’s not just a donation, it’s a gift of hope, of possibility, of better outcomes for the tiniest lives we care for.”

This year’s Spring Gala Ball, which took place at the Redcliffe Leagues Club, was another sold-out success, with MC Kirsty Fields from Social Ocean welcoming speakers including new Redcliffe Hospital Nursing and Midwifery Director, Keith Von Dohren, and Acting Nursing and Midwifery Director, Georgina Caldwell. Auctioneer Andrew Reibelt from Image Property also added to the night’s excitement.
